In 1997, Andrée Putman created her eponymous Studio, specializing in interior design and product design. When she imagines objects, she refuses the excess of striving to re-design pieces which were perfectly designed by others in the past. In 2000 she started collaborating with Christofle, she designed a collection of silver cutlery, she created a Champagne bucket for Veuve Clicquot, and she reinterpreted the iconic Louis Vuitton Steamer Bag.
In 2007, a new era begins as Andrée’s daughter Olivia Putman accepts to take over the Art Direction of the Studio, a wish its founder had expressed for a long time. “We realized that time and Andrée’s fame had turned our family name into an adjective: a project was Putman or was not Putman!” says Olivia Putman. Qualified in History of Art and landscape architecture, Olivia wishes to perpetuate the eclecticism and curiosity her mother always claimed.
Lalique is a legend, symbolic of craftsmanship which commands respect and admiration. Today, LALIQUE has entered a new phase of development and modernization. As a result, they have decided to open the unique skills of their crystal makers to contemporary designers, while keeping the greatest admiration and respect for René Lalique’s work and his tremendous input in the field of creation. As part of this new initiative, Lalique have asked Studio Andrée Putman to create a lighting collection, Orgue, both timeless and contemporary.
